Thanks to a sewing day with the San Diego Modern Quilt Guild, I was able to finish the backing for the robot quilt.
The colored spots on the label are the teachers and kid's fingerprints. Then their names and personalities were added. It turned out super cute (I had nothing to do with it).
The blue and the red stripes are flannel so it will be snuggly.
I think he'll like it!

Saturday Stash # 24
Yes, I did clear out Marmalade Fabrics of all their Kona Bright Periwinkle. And I may do it again this summer too.

Rolling Along
There was plenty of room to lay things out although I didn’t take up all the tables I could have.
I stacked them back up for the ride home since 4 hours goes by way too quick with the chatty set up that we have there.
Here's the layout that I finalized and sewed together on Monday night. I was irritated to find that there are two similar big prints of robots walking robot dogs in the same row. Luckily I was reminded that we generally walk dogs in twos around here so it makes sense.
Now I'm ready for the label and will piece the back with some flannel and the labels made by his classmates.

Saturday Status
Here are the Robots and Rockets as of Saturday morning. As you can see, I got sidetracked into finishing another project. It's coming along though and we've a plan for the label on the back from his classmates.
California Dreamin' Ragged Circles
Bagged up and ready to go, I finished, that's right finished a quilt this morning. I washed it up and sent it off to be gifted to a new baby. I printed up some washing instructions on a bit of cardstock and pinned it to the bag as well. Hopefully that's enough to convince the parents to use the quilt. And hopefully that baby likes really bright colors!
The circles washed up well too. No strings to trim really. I'd like to see them after a few washings as well but since this is a sold quilt, I probably won't get that chance.
I printed the wording on the label and then embroidered it this morning. For her name, I used two strands of floss but for the rest I used just one and like the way it turned out. I really like the baby's name, Samara means guardian so she could be a guardian of joy. Something that we can all use a little more of in our lives. Plus I'm partial to unique first names :)
I've a few more pictures on Flickr if you click any of these posted. I try to take a ton of pictures when I know the quilt is heading out of my life.
Ciao Bella!

Over halfway
Holler if you think I've got too many of a certain color so far. I will mix them up better in the final layout.
I've already received the rocket pantograph for quilting from Anne Bright (annebright.com). Fantastic service!!
