Robot Strips
I'm already posting my first finish of the quarter because of my vacation time.

I had a few of the robots print by Caleb Grey, it's an organic line and perfect for a quick baby blanket. Which is all I can quilt at the moment because my frame is set up at half size.

I quilted it up with random rectangles and squares. If you know where to look in the picture above, I included the word 'love' in the quilting as usual but didn't loop the letters so they blended better.

I took it along on my trip to have something to do while flying and driving since I wasn't in charge of either of those. The backing is a blue flannel that i had on hand. I think from Sam's quilt.

I donated it to a quilt shop in Kona, HI for their guild (I think Aloha Quilters) to gift to a child in foster care. Always a worthwhile cause.
It was nice for me to have something to do and nice to show my friend traveling with me that there is a purpose in my quilting. He may not want one still but he knows the term 'fat quarter' and how nice it is when someone's face lights up when handed a quilt.

Second Round
It's the second quarter of the 2012 Finish Along at Quilter in the Gap. It's a long list but I'm coming off a vacation and feeling on top of the world.
Here's the quick list and I may come back and add fancy pictures of each project, I may not though so don't hold your breath.
1. Giggling project - it's a gift so I won't show much detail.

2. Arabella Modern Day Diamonds - it was on the list last quarter too but isn't quilted totally yet. Here's the progress
3. Mandarian Chinese Takeout - also from the list last quarter.

4. Chirpfest 2012 - here's a link to the top
5. Blue Greek Crosses - the initial blocks are here
6. Robot Strip Quilt - small quilt to donate

7. And the last is linked here. It's the first stack pictured. All cut and sewing was started but I'd like to get it finished for donating soon.
These aren't all the ongoing projects and of course I'll start at least a few more but that's what makes it fun. Oh and I'm hoping to build a new studio too. :)

Turtle Quilt for Heidi
Final first quarter finish pictures coming right up.
This is the quilt top i gifted on Christmas and then brought back home with me to finish. As I mentioned, I'm quite classy.

Heidi officiated at my sister's wedding last year and did a great job. My sister wanted to do a special quilt as thanks so I got to work. I used Prince Charming by Tula Pink mostly since the turtles were perfect for Heidi. The pattern is Crazy Nine Patch from Oh Fransson again.

I quilted it with what I'm calling currents with waves. It fits with the top pretty well. The backing took about 42 emails to pick. I tried doing a pieced back, started here. It went really wrong so is wadded up in the closet now.
I may rescue it someday. So then the emailing of flannel pics started flying up to my sister. We finally settled on this blue stripe by Valori Wells. The colors match much better than this picture shows but you'll just have to believe me on that one.

I sent it via the Carlos Bueno Express to SF where my sister stitched on the binding. It's been properly gifted now and she's appreciates it very much. Yay!

Sunkissed Jelly Roll Magic
The working title of this quilt was always Sunkissed Jelly Roll Magic. Even after I cut it from a fat eighth bundle.

The tutorial that started it all is here.

I used a pantograph called frisky feathers. It fit well with the fabrics but it was smaller than I expected (and yes, I was looking right at it when I thought it was bigger). It took awhile to quilt but I think was worth it.

I've gifted it as a birthday gift and will add a picture of the label one of these days. I tried to improv piece but it ended up looking like a ransom note.
Edited to add picture -

Backing is solid gray flannel and I used a light yellow thread on both sides for the quilting.
This was one of the quilts I listed for the Finish Along as well.

Another Finish
I've got the binding finished on the little Origins HST quilt this morning. Its just in time for the Finish Along.

It's small and has no home yet but it's nice to have little quilts on hand for quick gifts.
I only stippled in the solid brown, the other fabrics are all Basic Gray's Origins line. So I call it Have A Nice Day.

Branching Out Just A Little
I'm packing up the long arm soon so trying to get a few quilts to the binding stages. I had the backs of two already loaded with quilting plans for one already. I used a little bit of the fabric as a jumping off point once i figured out how to use an old scrapbook stencil to make a pretty good circle. Of course after that I lost my nerve and filled the rest of the diamonds with swirls. Swirls are my go to design.

I did a little bit of quilting in the little green diamonds and then unloaded it from the frame, I'll do the stitch in the ditch and the borders on my little machine one of these days.

This was one of my quilts for the Finish Along but it will have to be bumped to the 2nd quarter.

I came across a neat little shop in the next neighborhood over.

It's called home ec. studio, www.homeecstudio.com

Halloween in March
If we can have Christmas in July, there's no reason not to have Halloween in March. This little wall hanging was made by Annette and she trusted me to quilt it up for her. After a few months of nervousness and thinking about how I could wreck it, i loaded it up on the frame, but black thread in the bobbin and got out every shade of brown/cream I had. Trust me, that's a lot of cream.

And here is the "finished" top. I totally wimped out on the borders since i wasn't sure how to fill them. There's some pebbling, echoing, stippling, straight lines, stitch in the ditch, loops, swirls, writing, cobwebs and outlining. A total stretch for me and she loved it!
